The deployment of an ambitious and transparent policy of Social, Societal, Environmental and Ethical Responsibility, in which each employee is a player, is a strategic direction for HTL. We wish to pursue our ambition of industrial, R&D and commercial excellence while respecting our human values, by building a sustainable development approach and exceeding the expectations of the company's stakeholders.

HTL wants to be responsible for its impact

We are committed to being accountable to our stakeholders for our impacts, to limiting and reducing them according to a binding timetable, attested by recognized certifications. This commitment applies to existing and future industrial products and technologies under development.

Societal, social, environmental, ethical and economic concerns are fully integrated in our decisions, thus positioning the company as a player in Civil Society.

We have decided to deploy proactive and ambitious programs, evaluate and mitigate the risks, measure our performance and strive for excellence through innovative actions.

Environment

Our commitments

We want to proactively contribute to managing the environmental issues facing the Civil Society as a whole. We are committed to:

  • Adapting industrial facilities to meet the challenge of climate change and reduce our environmental footprint by
    • Optimizing the use of raw materials in existing and developing processes, our carbon footprint and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
    • Choosing the best available technologies to manufacture new products in an environmentally friendly way
  • Eco-designing new manufacturing processes that reduce environmental risks and impacts
  • Integrating sustainable sourcing and logistics into our choice of sources and suppliers
  • Reducing the use of natural resources, particularly drinking water and energy
  • Controlling water discharge
  • Preventing pollution risks
  • Managing waste by reducing it and promoting its recovery
  • Raising awareness and involving staff in the environmental process of continuous improvement

Our 2020 achievements

In our 2020 achievements, we have

  • Commissioned the water effluent treatment plant
  • Implemented a new water recycling process that has enabled saving more than 7% of the total site consumption
  • Set up a cooling tower for water to limit polluting discharge
  • Designed and implemented less energy and water consuming equipment

Our 2020 achievements

In our 2020 achievements, we have

  • Financed a PhD fellowship, 5 apprenticeship contracts and 1 professionalization contract
  • Managed the COVID crisis with the development of new processes including part-time work, teleworking, case-by-case treatment of COVID+ and contacts, governance, dialogue with stakeholders and prevention
  • Distributed surgical masks for private use by employees
  • Initiated a Quality of Work Life (QWL) process with an assessment questionnaire
  • Launched new Environment, Health & Safety programs such as the safety manufacturing process when developing new products

Societal

Our commitments

We pride ourselves on doing good for Society in general, including improving the patients' quality of life, and making our company a role model. We are committed to:

  • Supporting health players such as hospitals, research institutions, patient associations through sponsorship actions
  • Creating an annual scientific prize to reward research work in the field of biopolymers
  • Contributing to specific actions with local associations

Our 2020 achievements

In our 2020 achievements, we have

  • Donated protective equipment to local hospitals and hospices
  • Distributed protective equipment (gowns, gloves) to local hospitals and nursing homes in the context of the COVID pandemic
  • Financed events organized by local sports clubs run by employees

 

HTL’s CSR performance is assessed by EcoVadis, a universal sustainability ratings provider. HTL has obtained a gold medal for its first rating in 2021, meaning we are in the top 5% of companies evaluated in our industry sector.
